Who are the Knights of Columbus<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t

Founded by Blessed Michael McGivney in 1882, the Knights of Columbus is the premier lay Catholic men\u2019s organization. Guided by the principles of charity, unity, and fraternity, we build life long relationships with our members and families. We are multi generational and international. We offer formation, mutual aid, and financial security to members through our charity, products, and outreach. We aspire to invite every Catholic man tojoin the Knights of Columbus and to extend our charitable reach as widely as possible.There are roughly 2.1 million Knights around the world who want to make the world a better place, support our families and grow in our faith.<\/p>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n

What We Do<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t

In Thunder Bay Knights councils serve the poor, conduct food drives, provide coats to needy kids, raise funds for proper footcare for people with diabetes, make donations to Special Olympics, the Salvation Army and many others, raise funds for the local Right to Life Association, help out at Christmas Cheer, clean roadways, conduct Masses for deceased priests and members, have a float in the Christmas parade, help with church repairs and maintenance, conduct a basketball free throw competition for kids ages 9 to 14, and we offer our members the opportunity to participate in our Cor Program whichis centered around spiritual growth, prayer and fellowship. We do all of this with a spirit of fraternity with our Brother Knights and we have fun!<\/p>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n

What is the Role of the District Deputy?<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t

The Province of Ontario is divided up into many districts with each district having four to six councils in a specific geographical area. District 14 encompasses the City of Thunder Bay and there are five councils in Thunder Bay. There are roughly 600 Knights in the district among the five councils.

The role of the District Deputy <\/strong>is to support and guide the councils in the district. He is a source for the councils, plans several multi-council activities and encourages the councils to focus their activities on the priorities set by the Provincial Board.The current District Deputy is Bruce Sutton who can be contacted at DD14@ontariokofc.ca<\/strong> or 807 632-3120<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n
